Beachcombing – Megan Forward

Don’t you love searching for treasure washed up on the shore? Sea Urchins with their delicate sage green shells and white dots, so light and delicate in your hands. And the sea-aged bottle tops and string weathered and taking on the colour and texture nature. My son found these while we were camping on Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah, and gave them to me - a quiet reminder of the intricate beauty that is all around us when we stop to pay attention.

Megan Forward is a Brisbane-based artist, author, and children’s book illustrator whose work celebrates the beauty and interconnectedness of the natural world. Blending watercolour, gouache, collage, and drawing, she creates layered, whimsical pieces that evoke serenity and invite viewers to bring nature indoors. Twice shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council of Australia Awards, Megan draws inspiration from observing light, patterns, and the relationships between flora, fauna, and humans. A graduate of the Queensland College of Art, her works are held in private and public collections in Australia and the UK. She is an active member of the Australian Society of Authors, SCBWI, and Booklinks.
